Pumpkin Carving Night

I know this post is like forever late, but I just haven't had the motivation to get it done. Oh well. This year we decided to carve our pumpkins the day before Halloween. We usually carve a week before Halloween, but the pumpkins always start to go bad and look ugly. So we did it a little different this year.

The finished product:

Brian had to work the night before Halloween so we had to carve pumpkins without him. He doesn't enjoy the carving pumpkin process so he didn't really mind. But we missed him.

Brian and Matt finally brought home their school pictures. I'm not sure how long they had been sitting in their backpacks, but they've been pulled out and hung up on the wall. I think my brothers are pretty handsome.

He's in high-school now. I can't believe it.

Brian's Senior Picture. This picture will be on the wall for the rest of his life....unless we move. Good thing it looks good.

Brian finally got his Eagle! He's worked hard and we're proud of him for getting it done. It was nice of all of his family and friends to come and share this special night with him.

Grandma Farnworth came over a week or so ago and helped us can peaches. I always wondered how it was done but never had the chance to do it with mom. It was fun to spend time with Dad and Grandma. I think she had a good time

Dad and his favorite apron that he purchased when we went to Europe. He thinks he's pretty funny. When the ward boys come around on Fast Sunday to do fast offerings they think it's pretty funny when Dad opens the door in this little number. They even asked to take a picture the last time they came over. I probably should hide it.......

All of our beautiful peaches are now in cans. When we were done with the peaches from our tree Dad bought a big box of peaches from one of the fruit stands on the side of the road and they canned most of those too. I can't wait to eat them!

Dad and Grandma had a good time together. Yes, they did most of the work and I'm pretty sure they enjoyed every minute of it.

Our Summer Adventures

Hi. It's Heidi...... Yes it has been quite a long time. My dad hasn't kept our blog up as well as he thought he would. So I've decided to take it over. Hopefully I can do a better job. Here are some pictures of our busy summer:

We started our summer out with the Farnworth Family Reunion. This is the whole gang. We had so much fun!

Lindsay and I took a trip up to Boston for ten days to visit our friend Kali and her cute little family. We had a blast!

In July we went with some of my mom's side of the family to Jackson Hole.

Everyone was taking too long to get ready for the day, so we ditched and took a nice drive and took pictures. We're so hot!

My dad's favorite saying this trip, "I Love Grand Tetons!" Yes he's a weirdo.

Waiting for Old Faithful. It took so long, my grandma had to entertain the children with her new books.
The day was cold and rainy. Brian and Dad had to leave in the middle of the trip so they missed our all day tour of Yellowstone. I'm sure they were bummed.

Our last day in Jackson Hole. We had a lot of fun!

We had a really fun summer and were bummed when school had to start again. But we are all back into the swing of things and surviving school. So far.

Dad has this whole week off. He already played 36 holes on Monday and 18 today. What would he do without his golf? I forgot to take first day of school pictures....whoops! Mom would be very disappointed. So maybe I'll share Brian and Matt's school pictures when they get them.

Our yearly family pictures will be taken soon and I'll be sure to post some of our favorites. So until then.......enjoy the schload of pictures I just posted.

Lindsay's Caterpillar Cake Creation for Heidi's Birthday

Lindsay imagined this and it appeared. Maybe she'll be a cake creator when she grows up! Her kids will love it!

Debbie's family came to celebrate with us and wish Heidi a happy 18th...she's an adult now...but she still can't drink, smoke or gamble.

We missed mom, remembering that just two years ago she was still able to celebrate with us.

We still miss her.

Dinner at Cheesecake Factory and a large amount of money later, we are stuffed and the girls are ready to hit the town...while the boys head to our lonely home. Girls ALWAYS have more fun.

In Government Camp, at the base of Mt.

Hood, Patrice and John have a "cabin" that they graciously shared with those of us that could make it and we celebrated Thanksgiving together...all 20 of us. We secretly hoped for 4 feet of snow, like they got in 2006, but this year all we got were a few spectacular days and a couple misty, wet ones.

Still, a week of overeating and laying around too much was just what we needed. For some odd reason we never got a picture of ALL of us! Where's Grandpa Gerald when we need him!!

These grainy pictures from my phone, taken surreptitiously, don't do justice to the intricacies of the Body Worlds displays. These were some of my favorites but there were many others that it was too difficult to get the shot. My brothers Mark and Mike, Mikes daughter and grandson Camie and Joel and I all went to see the exhibit earlier in November. If you can stomach it I highly recommend it!

I love it when the leaves are finally done for the year...at least OUR leaves. Now I await the wind delivery of various and sundry leaves from our neighbors. It was a wonderful mid-fall day to work outside. And then go golfing.

The leaves fill our back yard. Beautiful except for the landmines Lucky leaves underneath them. We try to get them all raked before it rains but it never happens.

Debbie put on the annual ET Halloween dinner at her house. She has assumed Pam's role well. Great costumes too!

Daniels Summit Ride

We started in Wallsburg and rode up to Daniels Summit Lodge for breakfast. Of course we picked the opening day of the deer hunt, thus the reflective orange attire. We didn't see a single wild animal! What a beaut of a day for a ride though.

Choir Concert Season

Heidi and Brian had their first choir concert of the year on Wednesday October 15th. They sounded incredible! The 13 year old green robes are serviceable but still, it'd be nice to get some new ones. We look forward to all the upcoming concerts this school year. This is our neighbor with Heidi, JaNae Fuller.

Water Damage

Obviously this has been going on for some time. Oddly, it would leak then be dry for months, causing me to think that it had somehow magically repaired itself. Stupid me. Pam got on me more than once to take care of this and now Heidi has assumed that role. So I pulled off the door and took out the shelf unit and looked up to see...I'm still not exactly sure where it's coming from! But what a great project! And even greater smell! Ah, the joys of home ownership.

Chilly golf for an October day

Brian and I went golfing this morning and almost had the course to ourselves. I made some comment as we drove in that only the diehards were out on a day like this. "Yeah. People like you." was all he said. What a great day though! No one to push. No one to push us. Besides being a bit cool...low 40s...it was perfect! Brian is still finding his groove but I'm glad he consented to go. Now, if we can just get Matt off the tv and computer.

Brians Bonehead BooBoo

Brian was goofing off with his friends the other night...ostensibly doing homework but obviously not at the moment his friends knee found his forehead. With the extensive vascularity of the head, which we had just witnessed last week at Body Worlds, he bled like the proverbial "stuck pig." After the van ride home (compliments of the the neighbors mom since Heidi and I were out walking Lucky at the time) we assessed the damage on the front porch and decided he didn't need stitches...besides the wait at the Instacare was over an hour. And who wants some rookie resident sewing on a facial wound with an upholstery needle? It looks better 3 days later and will provide a nice distinguished scar and reminder of what can happen in a hurry.

I had to get Steve on here just to prove he actually was there a couple weeks ago. He was outdriving me almost everytime! I'll have to buy his G2 and make him get another club. Or, maybe I'll just borrow it indefinitely. That'll work better.

Body Worlds

We saw the Body Worlds exhibit (http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html) last night in Salt Lake and it was fascinating! The body we all walk around in is the most wonderfully designed creation and to see it up close and personal is unforgettable. Matt took about 30 mins; so did Heidi and Brian. Lindsay and I took our time

(90 mins) and explored each and every item on display, from the arterial system to natal development to saggital slices of an extremely obese person. Amazing.

Dinner out at Benihanas afterward worked out ok...although I thought more than once of what we had just seen...as I ate my chicken and shrimp. Nobody barfed though, and that was good.

The last time I was at Benihanas was with Pam....

Sand Hollow Golf with Steve Heelis

Drove to Cedar City on Saturday to play golf with Steve in St George. I felt mildly obligated since he comes up here so often...but mostly he comes just to see BYU play or visit family or go shopping...and sometimes golf with me.

Sand Hollow is a spectacular course and kicked my trash. I'd share my score, but I don't share the really bad ones...only the really good ones.

The Blog Inagural Address

We have decided to join the wave of bloggers and add our lives to the billions in cyberspace. Connecting this way is monumentally convenient and would have been good to start even two years ago before Pam moved on to better things. I still don't think of her as gone; she's just not here.

Summer 2008 was unforgettable in that two wonderful people got to move on to see Pam: Mallory Parsons, my niece and Steve Farnworth, my oldest brother. Maybe we'll visit those two stories in subsequent posts to this site.

Golf trips, 4-wheeling, vacations, concerts, holidays...all there for anyone who shows even the slightest bit of curiosity or interest.
